VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO " LIPITIRESCO "

This is a wine that I really enjoy producing. When I first had the idea to make it, in 1988, I wanted to freely interprete my idea of “Vino Nobile”, using the best of tradition but at the same time using my fantasy. For this I decided to use just a few specific grapes (still from Montepulciano of course!), and now, as then, Lipitiresco is made from 95% Prugnolo Gentile and 5% Mammolo grapes, all grown in my four vineyards
For the aging process I used different types of barrels, not the classical sort, because at that time French tonneaux weren’t as widespread as today. I also decided to vary the length of permanence, reducing it from twenty-four to eighteen months. Finally, I left the Lipitiresco to age in bottles for many months, from twelve to eighteen depending on the year, a strange practice for those times
I also decided that the wine should not be put on the market until the December after the second year of production.
This wine has no problems in being classed as a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, since all its distinguishing characteristics fall within the parameters of the recent criteria set down for Vino Nobile production; and 2000 vintage, this wine is a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano D.O.C.G

Grape Varieties: Prugnolo gentile 95%, Mammolo 5%
Can be kept for: 10 - 15 anni.
